Andrew Repasky McElhinney is the creator of the short films "The Scream" (1994), "Her Father’s Expectancy" (1994), "A Maggot Tango" (1995) and the features "Magdalen" (1998), "A Chronicle of Corpses" (2000), "Georges Bataille’s Story of the Eye" (2003) and "Animal Husbandry" (2009). "A Chronicle of Corpses," a lushly detailed, early nineteenth century period piece, was named as one of the top ten movies of the year by both The New York Times and The Village Voice. McElhinney’s third feature, and his first created with digital video, "Georges Bataille’s Story of the Eye, "is a movie inspired and informed by the philosophy of Georges Bataille. Film Threat called the picture “a new landmark in underground cinema.” McElhinney’s fourth feature, "Animal Husbandry," is a word-for-word production of 1931 play preformed in modern dress with the subtext reexamined to explore issues of race, class gender and sexual identity in contemporary America.
 
McElhinney holds advanced degrees from The New School for Social Research and The European Graduate School. McElhinney recently contributed the monograph, A World Destroyed By Gold: Shared Allegories of Capital in Wagner’s ‘Ring’ and Ulmer’s ‘Isle of Forgotten Sins’ to Scarecrow Press’ anthology, The Films of Edgar G. Ulmer.
