Karen Getz

KAREN GETZ (choreography) is a three-time Barrymore Award-winning Philadelphia-based theater artist. She most recently received a 2009/2010 Philadelphia Theatre Initiative Grant in support of her new piece, The A.I. Project, an actors’ ballet that explores the beauty of human imperfection through the behaviors of artificially intelligent robots. Other work with BRAT includes choreography for Naked Cocktail and co-producing and choreographing Grease and Desisit. Work so far this season includes Jen Childs' Why I am Scared of Dance and Cecily and Gwendolyn’s Fantastical Paranormal and Quantum Experiment, the latest iteration of an ongoing, ever-evolving series of completely improvised, two-person, Victorian-time-traveling-extravaganzas with fellow improviser, Kelly Jennings. She is currently working on phase two of The A.I. Project and also on a solo dance piece about her dysfunctional relationship with Time. Karen teaches improv and dance and you should take a class with her. Keep up with Karen and register for classes at karengetz.com and cecilyandgwendolyn.com.
