MADI DISTEFANO (Director) is a Philadelphia-based playwright, actor, director, and teacher. As the Resident Artist and former Artistic Director of Brat, Madi plies her many trades. Previous Brat credits include directing Haunted Poe, Naked Cocktail and Eye-95 Re-Tarred. Other directing credits include the Greater Tuna trilogy at the Walnut Street Theatre where she has also acted in 3 Neil Simon shows and The Mystery of Irma Vep. Her one-handed play, Popsicle's Departure, 1989, took home a Scotsman Fringe First and an award for Best Solo Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Madi is a 7-time Barrymore nominee, and Best Actress winner for Brat's production of Eden at Fergie's Pub. She is a recipient of awards from the Leeway Foundation, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, The Independence Foundation, The Philadelphia Theatre Initiative, and the Phoebe Haas Charitable Trusts (A) and (B). Her play Sweetie-Pie premiered at Azuka Theatre and she is currently writing MEANWHILE… a two-person quick-change show based on pulp fiction and detective crime stories.
