MICHAEL ALLTOP was the Producing Artistic Director of BRAT Productions from 2007 to 2010 and focused on expanding the company’s audience through large-scale, popular works that also maintained the company’s reputation for bravado and experimentation. Original concepts developed for Brat include the Barrymore Award-winning Three Chord Fiction (2007), User 927 (2008), and Haunted Poe (2009). Alltop holds an M.F.A. in Drama from Syracuse University. Directing credits include User 927 and Fatboy for Brat Productions; Strange News From Another Planet (co-written with Sheila Callaghan) and Cop-Out at FringeNYC; City of Dreams (with Alison Fraser) at the Midtown Int’l Theatre Fest; Damien (Theatre at St. Clement’s); Measure For Measure (Pittsburgh Public Theater Young Company); Roadicide (also adapter) at HERE’s American Living Room Festival; Durang Durang (Kitchen Theatre, Ithaca); and The Good Woman of Setzuan (Syracuse Univ. mainstage). Prior to working at Brat, Alltop was the Associate Artistic Director at Theatreworks/USA, the nation's largest producer of original work for young audiences. Alltop holds an M.F.A. in directing from Syracuse University and is a Drama League Directing Fellow and member of the Lincoln Center Directors Lab.
