Report from the weekend Previews -they saw dead people!

 From Michael Alltop...

"At a preview event like this, we perform in front of an audience. This time it was over 200 people. We see what works and what could work better. We're still making tweaks here and there, perfecting the, ahem, dead cat trick, and equalizing the audio... fine tuned adjustment, if you will.

Sealed behind the masonry is a cask of amontillado, underneath the floorboards beats a tell-tale heart, and all around the room glides the masque of Red Death. Edgar Allan Poe’s wormwood-soaked brain will be seeping through the rooms and hallways built in a South Philadelphia warehouse space as the master of the macabre’s greatest hits come to life for the 200th anniversary of his birth. Brat Productions’ theater piece is as immersive as the House of Usher, using a cast of actors with music, video and puppetry to build a suspenseful creep.

Haunted Poe is not a typical haunted house for a number of reasons: First of all, it doesn’t just exploit the name of the distinctive author for his creepy, Victorian aesthetic; it actually stays true to the Poe text and presents lovely packets of theater as you move from room to room.
