USER 927

Framed by the true events of America Online’s leak of 658,000 user search logs to the public—and the subsequent uproar over one deviant user—User 927 took a provocative look at the nature of search in the Internet era and the dangers that seem to spring from every click of the mouse. This Brat-commissioned world premiere by Pew Fellow Katharine Clark Gray garnered unprecedented attention from the media, including the Associated Press, USA Today, ABC.com (with Charles Gibson), NPR.org, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, Sydney Morning Herald (Australia) and London South East. Presented at St. Stephen's Theater (home of the Lantern), User 927 examined our simultaneous attraction to, and dread of, modern technology, and offered audiences the chance to see an important public debate take a thrilling new direction.
